6 minutes 39 seconds!!!!

Total eclipse in Asia! The next visible in north America will be in 2017. Mark your calendars.

I can't say why eclipses touch me so deeply. Partially because I love the sudden darkness. The beauty of the sun glowing behind the moon. Suspended in a way it never looks otherwise. The way the moon fits so perfectly over the sun. The quietness. The weirdness of it all. How everything looks new again, like in childhood. But there's something more visceral than all of these reasons, something inexplicable.

Some people stayed inside with the doors locked and curtains drawn. People who are already dead. Because they think a giant dragon is eating the sun. Well, if that's so, don't you want to SEE IT????

In other Milky Way news, a comet the size of earth hurled into Jupiter!
