weekend backtrack

fri night i and i head myselves downtownwards by mary-ann-request to meet at the trappeze, which has become a fave. on the way, the sun was sparkling twisting spiraling down into a cradle of oaks
i asked her to pose for a quick snap
she complied

she followed me all the way downtown, hoping to have her picture made again!
i complied

here are my companions for the eve at trappeze: alice, kathy, kalpen, chuck
i ordered a port
it made me feel warmish

everyone wouldn't fit in my first pic. here's mary ann, alice, and a side of kathy

next we traveled half a block to clocked, where there was a wait: half hour for table, another half hour for food.
"sorry" said the door greeter flatly, yanking options to wait out from under us.
message: get the hell out you're blocking the door.
welcome to athens sigh
so we traipse around the corner to farm 255
where i order more port, turning traditional apres~dinner into aperitif, if you please.
it's just who i am.

i felt even warmer.

i'd forgotten how much i'd grown to love port in oregon this summer.
i had another glass.

now i felt warm and drunk.

i ordered shrimp and grits.

both of which took an hour to arrive.

see, farm loves it fresh so clearly they were out in the "while-u-wait" shimpboat trawling high and low for my four shrimp....

chuck interviewed our waitress regarding the inordinate length of timepassage betwixt Placing Order and Eating Food. she launched into a complicated analysis of the situation that included sines, cosines, quarks and queasals
days and years and warps and weasels
the air above old nick below
cumulus stratus rain and snow.

"well, okay," we said.
****

at last: arrival!

here, an after-dinner pic:

perhaps no blog entry is ever realy complete without sleeping cats
i think i'll make them my official sign off henceforth, in fact

still life: ruby/pinky/unmade bed

I'll have some port, and a side of Kathy, please.

Excellent choice! I see you are a vegetable of discriminating tastes!

It's funny how "a side of Kathy" looks black and white(must be a 60's sitcom), and a Kathy (centered) is in technicolor.

Shrimp'n'grits....interesting.
